About Caremongering Campbell River (CMCR)

We're a community-driven initiative started in March 2020.

Since then, we’ve grown to include over 5,000 members who work together to provide support and kindness throughout our community.

We extend a special thank you to our 75 screened volunteers and to the many others who contribute daily to our efforts. It’s inspiring to see what we can accomplish together!

The Heart Behind the Kindness

Pictured here is Tara Jordan, founder of Caremongering Campbell River, holding the banner that has become a symbol of community care, generosity, and hope. What began as a simple desire to help neighbours in need has grown into a powerful grassroots movement supported by volunteers, donors, businesses, and community champions throughout Campbell River.
Since 2020, Caremongering has provided essential support to hundreds of local families through food assistance, emergency supplies, holiday hampers, and countless random acts of kindness. Every success story is made possible by the people who believe that no one in our community should face hardship alone.
The words on the banner—"Gratitude in all directions"—reflect exactly how we feel. We are grateful for every volunteer hour, every donation, every partnership, and every act of kindness that helps us continue this work. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate Campbell River, one family and one act of kindness at a time. ❤️

Tara Jordan, founder of Caremongering Campbell River, stands proudly holding the organization's banner following a successful community fundraising event.

The banner reflects the heart of Caremongering's mission: helping vulnerable people in Campbell River with necessities through kindness, compassion, and community support. Behind her, the community hall where volunteers, donors, and supporters gathered serves as a reminder of the many people who come together to make this work possible. Since 2020, Caremongering Campbell River has connected neighbours helping neighbours, providing practical support and hope to local families facing challenges. The banner's message, "Gratitude in all directions," perfectly captures the spirit that drives the organization and the community that stands behind it.

Our Mission

We’re guided by the principles of kindness, compassion, and empathy.

Our mission is simple: to mobilize the community at a grassroots level to help those in need with necessities, whenever possible.

We do this by connecting those who have time, resources, and skills to offer with those who need a helping hand. If you have suggestions for how we can improve, we welcome your input—just get in touch with our founder and coordinator, Tara Jordan.

How We Help

We support the community in many practical ways, including:

Food bank deliveries

On a regular basis.

Free or low-cost household items

Organizing and delivering free or low-cost household items (furniture, kitchenware, clothing, baby supplies, etc.).

Grocery shops

Offering $100 grocery shops to families in need, once per year, when funds are available.

Community Kitchen Meals

Coordinating community kitchen meals and sharing extra food.

Community Support Initiatives

Assisting with children’s birthdays and other creative community support initiatives

Our Values

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, judgment-free community. Discrimination or negative behavior—such as bullying or judgment based on religion, race, age, gender, ability, or sexual orientation—has no place here.

We understand that asking for help can be a vulnerable experience, and we believe it’s an honor to both give and receive support. Our aim is to pay it forward whenever we can. If you notice any behavior that goes against our values, please report it to Tara Jordan, and we will address the situation promptly.

Become a Volunteer

If you’re interested in joining our team of volunteers, we’d love to have you! Becoming a screened volunteer is simple:

  1. Submit a criminal record check (only $10 for volunteers with a letter from Tara)
  2. Provide two references
  3. Complete a short interview

Applicants with past criminal records are welcome to apply, and each case will be considered individually. Our volunteers handle donations and personal information, making this screening process essential.

A Volunteer-Run Community

Caremongering Campbell River is completely run by volunteers, and we’re thrilled with how far we’ve come together.
